Inks, Coatings & Adhesives: Industry Leadership Committee Open-Door Working Session

This session will include a panel discussion with representatives from the Inks, Coatings, and Adhesives committee and the Foodservice Packaging committee to explore ways in which the group’s work can be utilized. The committee has created a foundational overview of the functional, economic, and end-of-life considerations for ancillary treatments in the context of solid bleached sulfate board, rigid PET containers, and flexible oriented polypropylene. Join this session to learn about this work, take part in the discussions, and synergize the work of this committee with other initiatives.

Flexible Package Recovery: Industry Leadership Committee Open-Door Working Session

As a rapidly growing segment of the packaging market, multilayer flexible film packaging is reaching the critical mass that is often necessary to make various recovery options feasible on a large scale. To investigate this idea, this committee is exploring various means of recovery and working to understand the opportunities and challenges that exist for the beneficial recovery of flexible packaging. Join this session to learn about the latest findings of the committee and help the team plan their next steps.

Healthcare Packaging: Industry Leadership Committee Open-Door Working Session

This committee is working to identify opportunities to enhance the sustainability of various healthcare product packages by leveraging better design. Using the SPC’s latest resource Packaging Design for Sustainability, the committee is highlighting some of the challenges and opportunities of the packaging for three exemplary products: an AbbVie pharmaveutical product, an Abbott nutritional product, and a Johnson&Johnson medical device. Join this session to learn about the findings and the design considerations that are unique to healthcare packaging design

Foodservice Packaging: Industry Leadership Committee Open-Door Working Session

Royal 1

This committee has been analyzing design for recovery of foodservice packaging, including cups, wraps, and the coatings used in these materials. The group is also exploring what additional data points are needed to better understand access to recycling data for foodservice packaging. During this session, the committee will present the findings and discuss the various options for next step deliverables.

Meaningful Marketing Claims: Industry Leadership Committee Open-Door Working Session

This committee is working to create a web-based Green Marketing Claims 101 resource to bridge the disconnect that often exists between marketing messaging, consumer understanding, and a scientific understanding of sustainability. To accomplish this objective, the group has broken into sub-committees to research different topics, including guidance on making claims, examples of meaningful claims, and relevant resources. Join this session to hear each sub-committee’s presentation of their findings and help refine the committee’s next steps.

Value of Forest Certification: Industry Leadership Committee Open-Door Working Session

This committee recently conducted research and interviews to understand the key drivers affecting the adoption of forest certification systems in North America. Their investigation encompassed the supply and demand of forest products, challenges for stakeholders acress the supply chain, the current business model in place, and other challenges and opportunities affecting certified forest products from the landowner to the end user. Join this session to learn about the official summary of project findings and take part in strategic discussions aimed at increasing certified forest area and promoting responsible forest management.
