Sustainable Packaging Coalition to Showcase Sustainability Tools at PACK EXPO International, November 6-9, 2016

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, AUGUST 11, 2016 —The Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) will feature a number of sustainability tools and resources as a partner at PACK EXPO International, November 6-9, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois. The SPC is a membership group dedicated to a more robust environmental vision for packaging. The SPC brings together businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies to collectively broaden the understanding of packaging sustainability. Membership is comprised of leading companies and organizations across the packaging supply chain, from material manufacturers to converters to retailers and brand owners. Around 30 members of the SPC will be exhibiting at PACK EXPO International, including 3M, Dow Chemical Company, Georgia-Pacific, International Paper, Printpack Inc., Sappi, Sonoco, Tomra, and Westrock. Many other members will be in attendance.

The SPC will showcase its suite of packaging sustainability tools and programs, including How2Recycle, the preeminent on-package label program providing clear and concise recycling instructions to consumers; EPAT (The Environmental Paper Assessment Tool) designed to evaluate environmental performance data across the paper supply chain; The Essentials of Sustainable Packaging, an introductory seminar designed to teach professionals the essential sustainability considerations for packaging and the strategies needed to create packaging that is beneficial for people and the planet.

According to Jim Pittas, Senior Vice President of PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, producer of the PACK EXPO portfolio of trade shows, “Industry organizations participating in the PACK EXPO International Partner Program understand the value of being present at the show, for their members and the whole processing and packaging industry. They serve as on-site resources, frequently connecting attendees with exhibitors, solving known challenges while sparking innovative solutions.”
