Victor Zapata

Victor joined Dow 20 years ago in The Netherlands as a technical engineer for consumer electronics and packaging. In 2001, he relocated to Spain to hold various sales positions for engineering plastics and for the broader plastics portfolio. In 2005, he moved to Switzerland to become product manager for specialty resins. In 2007 he assumed the role of marketing manager for Food and Specialty Packaging in Europe and IMEA, responsible to define and drive the Dow Innovation Packaging Value Chain program engaging partners down the packaging value chain on innovation and sustainability. Late in 2009 Victor took up the role of Sales Director for Packaging & Specialty Plastics in Southern Europe and relocated back to Spain. In addition to his Dow commercial responsibilities, Victor was elected as President of Cicloplast, the Spanish ‘Green Point’ entity created to comply with the EU Packaging Waste Directive and became board member of Ecoembes, Plastics Europe Iberica and Transformadora de Etileno TDEIAE, a joint venture between Repsol and Dow. In summer 2013 Victor relocated to Houston, Texas, accepting the role of Solution Polyethylene Product Director for North America aligned to the Packaging & Specialty Plastics business. In April 2016 he was appointed North America Sales Director with primary focus on Rigid Packaging and Health & Hygiene markets. Late in 2018, Victor accepted the newly created role of US Regional Cracker Asset Director in the Hydrocarbon business with primary responsibility and oversight for the profit & loss of the business in the US Gulf Coast.
In his current role, Victor is responsible for the development of new business models and growth strategies that monetize plastics waste recycling streams across the Americas, including mechanical and feedstock recycling platforms. He works closely with the North America and Latin America commercial leadership to help design the appropriate resource structure based in the regions to advance this effort. Victor and his family, Loly and their two kids, live in Houston, Texas.
