Teresa Bui

Teresa Bui started a recycling club in high school and has been interested in waste reduction programs since. She was appointed Special Advisor to the Director at the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) in March 2017,  focused on advancing the Department’s high priority issues such as packaging reform.

Before joining CalRecycle she was a policy analyst at the environmental nonprofit group Californians Against Waste for 8 years, doing research and advocating for CAW’s legislative and regulatory priorities relating to California’s Bottle Bill, household hazardous waste and producer responsibility.  She previously served on California’s Carpet Stewardship Program Advisory Committee and Mattress Recycling Advisory Committee. Teresa received her B.S. in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning from the University of California, Davis.
