Bio

Dr. Ranga Soundararajan has worked in the Plastics Industry for 25+ years. He has extensive experience in polymers, additives, compounding, film processing (blown, cast, MDO), and customer interactions. His experiences were acquired over his projects with DuPont, Sealed Air and currently ISOFlex Packaging. It has resulted in several commercial products and patents spanning performance masterbatches, fibres, laminates, multilayer films, and multilayer foams. He is currently Technical Director at ISOFlex Packaging (Division of the Sigma Plastics Group), a producer of custom engineered films for a variety of markets such as food and pet food packaging. In his current role, Ranga wears multiple hats and is responsible for Product development, Customer growth, Sustainability, and Regulatory. He has an extensive professional network within the polymer industry, academia and professional organizations. As part of developing a Sustainable Strategy and Films Portfolio for ISOFlex, Ranga has interacted closely with APR Flexible Films Committee and the SPC How2Recycle Program. This involvement has led to his interest in serving on the Executive Committee to continue the collaboration and discussions around flexible packaging. He would like to contribute in particular to the areas of Emerging Regulatory Requirements around the world with respect to Flexible Packaging and provide an insight into the Supply Chain perspective around developing Sustainable products. Ranga holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Why do you want to serve on the Executive Committee?

I would like to serve on the Executive Committee to continue a collaborative discussion around the benefits of materials and the critical role it plays in protecting products, extending shelf life of food and providing safe and good quality food around the globe. Plastics and Flexible Packaging continues to be discussed actively in the industry. I hope to be able to work with the Committee Members by bringing in a converter’s perspective and the perspective of the Supply Chain (customers).

What do you think you would contribute as an Executive Committee representative?

I hope to contribute by providing guidance and leadership in the areas of Emerging Regulations around packaging and applying it to technologies being brought forward by the industry as solutions. To help support a Circular Economy.
