Bio

Ludovic Capt is Vice-President of Innovation and Sustainability at Balcan Innovations, driving companies’ initiatives in R&D, product development, and sustainability. He is also responsible for the technical intelligence and surveillance of the next technologies in raw materials or equipment that will help Balcan meet our customers’ needs for the future. Ludovic has over 20 years of experience in the film industry, 18 of which were spent at Balcan in various positions in R&D, sustainability, product development, quality, and process engineering. He also sits in multiple technical committees to update norms and standards around the plastic industry. In addition, he has been a part of expert panel for the review of life cycle assessment of various flexible packaging products. Ludovic has a Materials Engineering degree from France and has received a PhD in Polymer Engineering from Canada (McGill) and spent two years in Germany studying BOPP films.

Why do you want to serve on the Executive Committee?

To serve on the committee would ensure that the challenges and voice of the industrial & security packaging industry is taken into account to help shape newer policies and projects that will lead to more complete sustainable packaging solutions. Balcan is very active in diverse markets that differ from the more traditional retail markets but in which large volume of packaging is used. Our voice would represent the needs of brand owners in building products, Lawn & garden, horticulture and cash-in-transit companies.

What do you think you would contribute as an Executive Committee representative?

My education in Materials Engineering from France and PhD in Polymers from Canada and Germany and in my +25 years in flexible packaging at the University and in the industry can help me contribute to the committee in terms of scientific expert. I also have a great expertise in LCA (life cycle assessment). I do also have a large network of contacts in large companies from our main markets from who I can quickly get valuable business intelligence information.
