Anthony Watanabe
Innovolve Group
As an entrepreneur, advisor, and investor, Dr. Watanabe works with businesses, NGOs, and governments to help them deliver and derive value through sustainability. Since 2009, Anthony has been part of a global team traveling the world promoting the market transformation to zero energy housing. This initiative has taken his team to Brussels, Paris, Melbourne, Sao Paolo, and all over the US. In December 2011, Dr. Watanabe was invited by the International Energy Agency to present this work in Delhi, India at a workshop hosted by the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation. Anthony is currently working with his Innovolve colleagues to author climate change strategies for housing in Mexico, Peru, and Costa Rica. Innovolve created the successful Canadian Water Summit which gathers hundreds of participants annually to share stories of water challenges and innovation. In August of 2012, Anthony had the pleasure of participating in Vice President Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project, receiving training on climate science and presentation skills with 1,000 other sustainability leaders from around the world. In September 2012, Anthony was appointed to Canada’s Clean50 as part of an elite group of leaders who are driving clean capitalism. In July 2013, with his family in tow, Anthony will embark on a year-long research tour around the globe. During this “family sustainability sabbatical” he will seek out examples where business practices are bringing back biodiversity. The goal of the tour is to find answers and best practices to the guiding question, “What is the business case for regeneration?”
