Welcome: Savannah Guinyard

December 18, 2020

GreenBlue is pleased to announce that Savannah Guinyard has joined the team as a How2Recycle Project Associate with the Sustainable Packaging Coalition.

What inspired you to work in the sustainability field?

I remember seventh grade, to be exact, is when I became interested in sustainability. A lady came in to talk about recycling. It was a new concept that I had never seen practiced before, but knew would have substantial positive effects on the environment around me,especially growing up in the city. From there my interest grew. It developed into gaining knowledge about humans and how we impact the Earth, and I always knew I wanted to be a part of fixing the damage we have caused in one way or another. Of all the things I have been passionate about over the years, that has always remained a constant, so I knew it was a field I wanted to go into.

What do you hope to achieve at GreenBlue?

At GreenBlue I hope to help companies look at their packages more sustainably, to help guide them towards finding the most responsible design that lowers their packages footprint, extends the materials being used, and facilitates clear instructions for disposal. A big reason I went into packaging is because most of it ends up as “trash” and being single use when it does not have to. I look forward to helping convey these ideas to companies through H2R and helping cut down on waste.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy sleeping, spending time with my dog, traveling, attending concerts and starting a new hobby. Currently it is candle making, but next month it might be making rugs.
Happiness is…

Being in a warm climate, outside in nature, preferably near water.
