GreenBlue is pleased to announce that Brooke Anderson has joined the team as a How2Recycle Project Manager with the Sustainable Packaging Coalition.
What inspired you to work in the sustainability field?
As a child, my most cherished memories were spent outdoors hiking, canoeing, and playing along the rivers in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, which instilled an appreciation and respect for nature in me. Traditional science roles felt too static and predictable when choosing a career path, but after finding myself in the corporate world, I realized I wanted to pursue a career to help businesses reduce their environmental impact.
What do you hope to achieve at GreenBlue?
I hope to help scale the H2R logo to reach thousands of companies, and hopefully, see a transition of the majority of products in the market to be optimally recyclable. The amount of disposable products and waste being created due to poor design and without the full life-cycle in mind is unfortunately growing. I am hopeful that the H2R logo, guidelines, and recommendations becoming the norm in packaging will turn this trend around and help avoid poorly designed products from even reaching the market in the first place.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spending time with my young daughter, husband, and dogs, and doing anything outdoors (especially trail running, hiking, and skiing). I also enjoy traveling, cooking, and trying to grow a vegetable garden.
Happiness is…
Being atop a mountain with fresh air and beautiful views surrounding you.
