Scott N. Miller

Dragon Innovation

Scott N. Miller is the Chief Executive Officer of Dragon Innovation, where he has served since founding the company in 2009.

Scott is a mechanical engineer by training, with extensive hands-on and executive leadership experience designing and manufacturing complex software controlled electro-mechanical systems.  He began his career building robots, including a biomimetic robotic tuna fish at MIT, an undersea remotely operated vehicle at Deep Sea Systems, and a full-size walking dinosaur at Walt Disney Imagineering R&D.

Scott joined iRobot as an early employee and over 10 years grew from a Senior Mechanical Engineer into Vice President roles.  Initially, he was responsible for leading the technology team that partnered with Hasbro to create the next generation of interactive toys.  Based on the manufacturing skills and network he developed during this process, he was selected by the CEO to set up manufacturing capabilities for multiple new consumer robotic product lines.  As a result, Scott moved to China for four years and built the teams that manufactured the first four generations of Roomba and Scooba. These products were instrumental in enabling a successful IPO.  After repatriating as the Vice President of Engineering, Scott led a team of 75 people who were responsible for all phases of the Consumer Robotic Division’s technology, including factory selection, supply chain strategy, costing and sourcing, DFMA and manufacturing.

Seeing the potential of the hardware revolution, Scott founded Dragon Innovation in 2009 to help hardware companies safely scale from a prototype through high volume production.  Leveraging his manufacturing and engineering knowledge, leadership, tools and network, Scott has grown Dragon into the premier brand and trusted partner for emerging hardware companies of all sizes.  Dragon’s team is 30 people strong with experts in software development, manufacturing, sales and marketing. Dragon has a track record of engaging very early with high growth companies and has enabled hundreds of customers ranging from Pebble to Bose.  Participating in conferences and events around the globe, Scott is a sought-after speaker and globally recognized thought leader.

Scott holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Dartmouth College and a Masters in Ocean Engineering from MIT.
