Maryland Department of the Environment: Resource Management Program


John Sullivan has been Program Manager for Maryland Department of the Environment’s (MDE) Resource Management Program since 2016.  In his role John oversees the functions of Maryland’s Hazardous Waste Program, Waste Diversion Division, Biosolids Division, Animal Feed Operations (AFO), and the Statewide Recycling Program.  John has been working closely with MDE leadership to implement and support Governor Hogan’s Executive Order regarding Waste Reduction and Resource Recovery. This Executive Order adopts a first-ever sustainable materials management policy for Maryland that will aim to minimize environmental impact throughout the entire lifecycle.

In addition John acts as MDE’s agricultural liaison to Maryland’s Department of Agriculture, and previously served as the liaison to the Harford County agricultural industry on behalf of the County Executive, County Council and local delegation.  John represents MDE on the State Soil Conservation Committee, and is Past President of the Maryland Agricultural Council and Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation. John has a Bachelor of Science from York College of Pennsylvania and lives in Fallston, Maryland with his wife and three children.
