Kim Houchens

Kim leads the Amazon packaging team that is reinventing packaging for the e-commerce marketplace. Prior to joining Amazon, Kim spent 20 years leading packaging R&D organizations for glass and plastic packaging companies that used computational modeling and high-performance computing to develop new technologies that reduced packaging waste and improved sustainability outcomes. Most recently Kim was the Senior Director of Innovations – Enterprise Analytics for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., where her team used big data and analytics to create new forecasting and data visualization capabilities for senior leadership. The CPEX team under her leadership has evolved to include; analytics, systems development and packaging engineering to create packaging innovations that scale and drive waste reduction and sustainability wins for our customers and for Amazon.

Dr. Houchens holds a BA, Assoc, MS and PhD in product development, material science, and manufacturing technologies.
