President and CEO, DS Smith North America Packaging & Paper Division

Jim Morgan leads the North American Packaging and Paper division of DS Smith, a FTSE 100 London based PLC, as President and CEO. He previously led the business under prior ownership from 2007 until the acquisition by DS Smith in August 2017, in addition to guiding the Indevco Group Global Paper and Energy business.

Jim began his career in the paper and packaging business in 1988 after working in both the power equipment and aerospace industries. He served in leadership positions with Gaylord Container, Bay State Paper and Duro Bag Manufacturing, prior to joining Interstate Resources/Indevco. Presently Jim actively serves on two (2) private boards and three (3) industry association boards, the American Forest and Paper Association, the Fibre Box Association and the Paper and Packaging Board. Jim holds a Bachelors of Science, Economics and a Masters of Science from West Virginia University. He and his wife, Lisa, have four children and live in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Why do you want to serve on the EC?

We believe in serving and supporting the key practical drivers for us, our business, our country and our global environment. It is critical that we actively engage in the sustainability effort as the circular economy grows in relevance.

What do you think you would contribute as an EC member?

As an active participant, I will bring a very practical global perspective relative to sustainable packaging. As a long term participant in the SPC operating a significant global recycling, manufacturing and R&D organization, we can support the strategic development of the organization.
