Mr. Gershman has over 40 years of experience advising government and industry clients in the solid waste management field. He specializes in providing long-term strategic plans; market studies; cost and independent feasibility analyses; technology reviews; project financing activities; and contractor development, procurement, and negotiation for recycling, composting, solid waste management, waste-to-energy, and district energy projects. His scope of practice also includes the design and implementation of training and technical assistance programs for prominent organizations such as National Center for Resource Recovery, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Department of Energy, and Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). As an industry thought leader, Mr. Gershman speaks at national conferences and writes articles for leading industry publications. He is the lead author and instructor for SWANA’s training course entitled “Economics, Costs, and Full Cost Accounting for Integrated Solid Waste Management Systems.” He is an active member of the International Board of SWANA and received SWANA’s Professional Achievement Award in 1993. He serves on the Board of Directors for the National Recycling Coalition (NRC), as well as NRC’s Policy Committee. He was President of the Maryland Recyclers Coalition (MRC) from 1995 to 1997. Prior to establishing GBB, Inc., he was Vice President of Gordian Associates, Inc. where he managed energy and environmental consulting.
He led one of three technical assistance teams designated by EPA’s Office of Solid Waste to provide a comprehensive range of technical, operational, financial, legal, and institutional services to municipalities in resource recovery and solid waste management.
